Text effect using blurs

This is a effect I like to use on lots of images. It's really effective when making logos and backgrounds. You can also do this effect on a simple logo but this is how to do it with writing

First create a file that matches the size needed. For this example I made the canvus 1280x1024. Colour the canvus in black and write using a font of your choice you selected text. For the moment make the text white. I used the font: nevis as it is quite bold.

Next you wannt to make a gradient for your text colour. The gradient tool is under the paint bucket if you right click it you can select it. Choose your colours at the top. I am going to use the rainbow gradient.

Then you want to rasterize the text layer. you can do this by right clicking the text layer and clicking rasterize type. this means you are able to select the tect now.

Now you want to use the magic wand tool to induvidually select each letter. IMPORTANT - you will have to hold down the shit key on your keyboard to select them all together

Then you need to click the gradient tool. Then drag over your text. This will apply the gradient to the text

Right click on the text layer and duplicate it. Call the layer blur.

Now click on the filter tab at the top of Photoshop. Click blur then gaussian blur. set the number at the botton to be 90 and it should blur the image

Make a new layer and call it clouds. Click filter, render and clouds and then it should show some clouds. Then go to the right. there is a drop down box that shows normal. Change it to colour dodge. This will make a cool image that has a smoke effect behind it. Save it as a JPEG with high graphics and you have an aweosome logo or text.
